About Stanka Krnacova
Are you feeling stuck in the same circular arguments, or as though you have slowly lost the emotional spark that once came more easily?
Many couples come to therapy feeling as if they are functioning well on the outside but disconnected at home. You may be managing work, parenting, responsibilities, and daily life — yet still feel lonely, reactive, unseen, or more like polite roommates than partners.
I am Stanka Krnacova, a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist and Certified Relational Life Therapy practitioner. I work with couples and individuals who want to understand what is really happening beneath the surface and are ready for honest, compassionate, practical work that leads to change.
My commitment to relational work is also personal. Quite a few years ago, my husband and I experienced Relational Life Therapy ourselves, and I know from the inside how powerful it can be to have someone help you see the pattern clearly, speak more honestly, and take responsibility without losing connection.
That experience deepened my respect for this approach and strengthened my commitment to helping couples move beyond blame, withdrawal, or polite coexistence into more truthful and connected relating.
My original training is in Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy, supported by a Master’s Degree and accreditation with the UK Council for Psychotherapy. This gives my work a grounded understanding of emotion, identity, development, and the therapeutic relationship.
Alongside this, I specialise in Relational Life Therapy. RLT is a direct, active, skill-building approach that helps couples examine the unhelpful behavioural patterns and dynamics that keep them stuck. I will not just be a blank slate. In our work together, we look at what happens between you in real time: how you protect yourself, how you pursue or withdraw, how conflict escalates, and what each person needs to take responsibility for.
This work is compassionate, but it is not passive. The aim is not to decide who is right. The aim is to help you move beyond polite coexistence and into more honest, respectful, vibrant intimacy.
Through my training in Mindful Relationship Sex Therapy, Passion & Presence® with Maci Daye, I also support couples in exploring their erotic and intimate lives. Sexual difficulties, loss of desire, performance anxiety, shame, or avoidance can become painful and isolating. In therapy, these challenges can become a doorway into deeper communication, vulnerability, and co-created intimacy.
This work integrates mindfulness, body awareness, and relational inquiry, helping you move beyond pressure or blame and toward a more present, connected erotic life.
I often work with couples and individuals navigating the pressures of professional life, parenting, and long-term partnership. For high-achieving professionals and dual-career couples, the relationship can become the place where exhaustion, responsibility, and unmet needs collide. You may feel well-connected at work, yet isolated in your own living room.
Therapy offers a focused space to understand the pattern, interrupt it, and practise a different way of relating.
Sessions are available online and in person in Bath.
